While Microsoft continues to equip the Windows operating system with new features, it also continues to remove old or useless applications. In this regard, the company, which recently announced that it will pull the plug on the 3D Paint program, is now preparing to remove the Control Panel application. Here are the details…

The first rumors that Microsoft would remove the Control Panel application emerged in 2011. So much so that at that time, screenshots of Windows 8, which was released in 2016, were leaked, and in these images, it was seen that the Control Panel was replaced by PC Settings. However, the application continued to be used.

In 2015, a senior Microsoft employee made a statement saying, “ Settings will eventually replace the Control Panel, ” and shared the company’s plan for the application in question. Although years passed and the expected step from the technology giant did not come, a significant development occurred recently.

A new support page that provides information about Windows configuration tools states that Microsoft is in the process of removing the Control Panel app. Accordingly, all options in this app will be moved to Settings. No specific date has been shared for this move. New information will emerge with future Windows 11 updates.

For those who don’t know, Control Panel entered our lives with the first version of Windows, which was released in 1985. This application, which acts as a tool to access almost every option related to the computer, is still quite useful today. However, it seems like it will disappear from our lives in the coming years.
